Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad’s warehousing market recorded a sharp 92% year-on-year rise in leasing activity during the January-March quarter of 2026, according to Knight Frank India’s latest India Industrial and Warehousing Market Report – Q1 2026. The city clocked 1.9 million sq ft of leasing transactions during the quarter, emerging as one of the fastest-growing warehousing markets among India’s top eight cities.
The report attributed the strong growth to sustained demand from manufacturing and logistics occupiers, reinforcing Ahmedabad’s growing importance as a manufacturing and distribution hub in western India. The city also accounted for 13% of the country’s overall manufacturing leasing volumes in Q1 2026. Knight Frank noted that average warehousing rentals in Ahmedabad increased 5% year-on-year to Rs 19.3 per sq ft per month during the quarter.
Across India’s eight primary warehousing markets, transaction volumes stood at 19.3 million sq ft in Q1 2026, marking a 15% growth compared to the same period last year. Mumbai led the market with 7.4 million sq ft of transactions, while Ahmedabad and Kolkata posted the strongest growth rates.
The manufacturing sector remained the biggest demand driver, accounting for 48% of the total warehousing leasing activity across India during the quarter. Manufacturing companies leased 9.3 million sq ft, registering a 17% year-on-year increase.
Rumit Parikh, Senior Director – Occupier Strategy & Solutions, Industrial & Logistics and Retail, Branch Head (Ahmedabad and Indore), Knight Frank India, said Ahmedabad continues to benefit from improving industrial connectivity, competitive rentals and expanding supply ecosystems.
“The 92% YoY growth in transaction volumes to 1.9 mn sq ft in Q1 2026 reflects sustained occupier confidence, particularly from manufacturing and logistics players,” Parikh said.
