National: InterGlobe Aviation Limited, the parent company of IndiGo, has announced that Pieter Elbers will step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. The Board of Directors expressed gratitude for Elbers’ contribution and leadership during his tenure and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Following the leadership transition, Rahul Bhatia, Managing Director of IndiGo, will temporarily assume management of the airline’s affairs until the company appoints a new CEO. The airline indicated that the announcement of a new leader is expected shortly.
Commenting on the development, Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman of the Board, said Rahul Bhatia’s return to operational leadership will help strengthen the company’s culture, reinforce operational excellence, and deepen IndiGo’s commitment to delivering reliable and professional service to customers. Rahul Bhatia stated that having founded and nurtured IndiGo for over two decades, he feels a strong sense of responsibility towards the airline’s customers, employees, shareholders, and stakeholders.
He added that IndiGo will continue to prioritize organizational culture, service excellence, and stakeholder trust, while sharpening its strategic focus on serving India with a professionally managed and globally respected airline.
