Nagpur: The National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) on Monday inaugurated a week-long capacity building workshop for BRICS Young Tax Professionals (YTP), as part of India’s BRICS Chairship 2026. The workshop, being held from April 20 to 26, has brought together participants from multiple BRICS nations and partner countries, including Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, UAE, Ethiopia and India, highlighting growing cooperation among emerging economies in taxation.
Shri Prasenjit Singh, Member (Legislation), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), attended the inaugural session as chief guest. He underlined the importance of global collaboration in addressing evolving tax challenges and stressed the role of young professionals in building a fair and transparent international tax system.
Officials said the programme will cover key areas such as international taxation, transfer pricing and cross-border tax frameworks. Discussions will also focus on global tax reforms, including BEPS initiatives, OECD and UN Model Conventions, and emerging frameworks like Pillar One and Pillar Two. The workshop will include BRICS Tax Forum sessions aimed at fostering dialogue, sharing best practices and strengthening cooperation among member countries.
Organised under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, the initiative reflects India’s push for inclusive and people-centric global partnerships, while reinforcing its commitment to capacity building in the global tax ecosystem.
