India : TOTO Ltd., the Japanese luxury bathroom and sanitary ware major, has once again been recognised for its leadership in sustainability, earning the prestigious CDP Dual ‘A List’ rating for climate change action and water security for the second consecutive year. The latest recognition marks TOTO’s third straight ‘A List’ rating for climate change and its second consecutive ‘A List’ for water security, reinforcing the group’s sustained focus on environmental transparency, measurable action and long-term sustainability performance.
CDP, a global non-profit organisation, evaluates companies worldwide on their disclosures and performance across climate change mitigation, water stewardship and natural resource management. The dual ‘A List’ distinction represents the highest level of global recognition for corporate leadership in environmental responsibility.
On climate action, TOTO has established a 2030 CO₂ reduction target certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aligned with its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. In water stewardship, the company conducts detailed assessments covering water stress, flooding risks and pollution, while deploying advanced technologies such as sand filtration systems and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes to promote efficient water management.
In India, sustainability is central to TOTO’s manufacturing and product strategy. The company has significantly improved water efficiency across its product portfolio, reducing water usage per flush from 20 litres to as low as 3.8 litres in its latest offerings without compromising hygiene or performance. TOTO’s Gujarat manufacturing facility plays a critical role in this commitment, with a strong focus on responsible local production, waste reduction, recycling, water reuse and emission control.
