New Jersey: New Jersey is set to witness a historic moment uniting Gujarat, the Gujarati-American community, and two sitting mayors on one stage.
For the first time ever, two sitting mayors of Gujarati heritage — Hon. Sam Joshi, Mayor of Edison, and Hon. Pulkit Desai, Mayor of Parsippany-Troy Hills — are co-hosting a community reception in honor of the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel.
The event is more than a reception. It is a testament to the remarkable journey of the Gujarati-American community — from building businesses and institutions to emerging as a powerful force in the civic and political life of New Jersey.
On Saturday, August 22, nearly 2,000 members of the Gujarati diaspora are expected to gather at the Carteret Performing Arts Center, Carteret, New Jersey, to welcome the Chief Minister with pride, enthusiasm, and unity.
Titled ‘Garvi Gujarat, Global New Jersey,’ the event is privately funded by Indian-American community sponsors and is free and open to the public.
In another historic first, the entire reception will be broadcast live in primetime on TV9 Gujarati, taking the energy and voice of the New Jersey Gujarati community directly to viewers across Gujarat and around the world.
For a community that has carried the name, culture, and values of Gujarat across generations and continents, this is being seen as a homecoming in reverse — Gujarat coming to meet the community that made New Jersey its home.
The program will feature cultural performances, addresses by community leaders, and a keynote address by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.
The message is clear: Gujarati Americans are united, engaged, and thriving — and their voice is being heard.
From Gujarat to New Jersey, this is not just a welcome. This is a moment of Gujarati pride and history in the making.
