Bhuj : The Bald Eagle Brigade of the Indian Army observed World Heart Day 2026 under the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat” with a series of activities focused on cardiovascular health awareness, early detection and physical fitness. The programme was coordinated by Military Hospital Bhuj.
The observance commenced on September 21 with an expert lecture by Dr. Meet Thacker, Cardiologist, who highlighted the importance of preventing cardiovascular diseases, recognising early warning signs and adopting healthy lifestyle practices. An interactive panel discussion that followed addressed common myths surrounding heart disease and emphasised the importance of preventive care and timely medical intervention.
From September 23 to 25, a dedicated cardiovascular screening camp was organised for personnel and their dependents aged 40 years and above. More than 360 beneficiaries underwent ECGs and other essential diagnostic investigations, followed by consultations with Medical Officers and specialists. The initiative helped facilitate the early identification of cardiovascular risk factors.
The programme also included awareness sessions on cardiac vigilance and stress management, along with expert-guided CPR demonstrations aimed at improving preparedness to respond to cardiac emergencies. The World Heart Day observance culminated on September 29 with a Walkathon to Sunset Point at Smritivan, Bhuj. Troops and families from Bhuj Military Station, faculty members of GAIMS–GK General Hospital and staff of Smritivan Museum participated in the walkathon, reinforcing the importance of regular physical activity and maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle.
Bringing together expert-led awareness, cardiovascular screening, specialist consultations, stress management, CPR training and fitness activities, the programme reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and cardiovascular wellness among its personnel and families. The initiative conveyed a simple message on World Heart Day: stay active, stay vigilant and never miss a beat when it comes to heart health.
