Ahmedabad: Today, IITRAM, situated in Maninagar, Ahmedabad, celebrated the inauguration of its newly built Girls’ Hostel, Boys’ Hostel, and E-1 Type Staff Quarters. The ceremony was honored by Shri Rushikesh Patel, the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Gujarat, who serves in various capacities including Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education, and Higher and Technical Education, as the Chief Guest. Shri Mukesh Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary of the Education Department in Gujarat, was present as the Guest of Honor.
Overview of the New Housing Complex : Spanning 2.75 acres, the new housing complex features:
- A Boys’ Hostel with a capacity for 976 students
- A Girls’ Hostel accommodating 288 students
- Faculty Quarters comprising 3 BHK flats
- A Guest House with a capacity of 56 occupants
This modern complex is equipped with a variety of facilities including a swimming pool, a reading room, an entertainment room, and dedicated study areas.
Insights from the Ceremony : Prof. Pramod K. Jain, Director General of IITRAM, welcomed the esteemed guests and shared the institute’s vision and ongoing initiatives. He highlighted IITRAM’s commitment to infrastructure-related education, skill development, and research, stating, “Our goal is to be a key source of trained manpower for India’s infrastructure development.” He also mentioned that the new hostels are expected to draw students from across the nation.
Ms. Riya Modi, Superintendent Engineer from the Roads and Buildings Department, provided insights into the architectural and functional aspects of the new housing complex.
Shri Mukesh Kumar, IAS, who was the institute’s first Director General, reflected on the initial challenges faced in acquiring land for the housing project. He reaffirmed IITRAM’s mission to serve as a center for infrastructure development and expressed optimism that the new facilities would attract exceptional talent from all over India.
In his speech, Shri Rushikesh Patel acknowledged the institute’s commitment to expanding its infrastructure. He urged the management to explore innovative avenues for generating resources, such as launching new academic programs in both online and offline formats.
