Changa: Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT) is set to host the nomenclature ceremony for its newly built SANTRAM Bhavan (Scientifically Advanced New-emerging Technology Research & Analytical Mulyankan Bhavan) on Tuesday evening at its Changa campus. This event symbolizes a noteworthy milestone in the university’s academic and infrastructural growth.
The ceremony will be held in the presence of eminent spiritual leaders, including Bhagavatacharya Pujya Shri Rameshbhai Oza (Bhaishri) of Sandipani Ashram, Porbandar; Anant Vibhushit Karshni Swami Shri Guru Sharananandji Maharaj of Ramanreti, Mahavan, Mathura; Param Pujya Shri Ganeshdasji Maharaj, Mahant of Shri Santaram Mandir, Umreth; and Param Pujya Shri Nirgundasji Maharaj of Santram Mandir, Nadiad.
Briefing the media, Dr. Atul Patel, Provost, CHARUSAT, said the naming of SANTRAM Bhavan reflects a convergence of spiritual values, philanthropy, and institutional purpose, reinforcing the university’s commitment to socially anchored and technology-driven education.
The SANTRAM Bhavan has been established with the patronage of Shri Devang Patel of the IPCO Family, one of Gujarat’s leading industrial families, along with devotees of Santaram Maharaj, Nadiad. Highlighting the family’s contribution to the university, Dr. Binit Patel, Registrar, CHARUSAT, stated that the consistent support of Late Shri Indukaka, Shri Devangbhai, and Smt. Anitaben has been instrumental in shaping CHARUSAT’s growth trajectory.
With cumulative contributions exceeding ₹25 crore, Shri Devangbhai is among CHARUSAT’s foremost benefactors. His philanthropy has enabled the establishment of key academic and research institutions, including the Indukaka Ipcowala Institute of Management (IIIM), Devang Patel Institute of Advanced Technology and Research (DEPSTAR), and the Anita Devang Patel Ipcowala Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence. SANTRAM Bhavan represents the latest addition to this legacy, conceived as a multi-utility facility to strengthen academic administration, digital governance, and assessment systems.
Designed as a central operational hub, the building houses several critical university functions. The ground floor accommodates the Centre for Online Education Program (CCOE), Controller of Examination (CoE), Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Charusat Innovative Ventures Foundation (CIVF), and the Charusat Startup and Innovation Centre (CSIC), along with IT development units and conference facilities.
The first and second floors are fully dedicated to CHARUSAT’s Paperless Examination System, implemented university-wide since 2022. Each semester, more than 10,000 students undertake examinations in two digitally enabled halls, each with a seating capacity of 600, supported by secure observation areas, bag-drop zones, and tablet-charging infrastructure exceeding 1,250 devices. The third floor further supports examination and evaluation processes through dedicated assessment rooms, staff offices, and an in-house secure printing facility.
Conceived with an emphasis on operational efficiency and environmental responsibility, SANTRAM Bhavan functions as a critical nerve centre within CHARUSAT’s academic ecosystem. Its nomenclature underscores the university’s effort to align institutional advancement with values-based philanthropy and technological innovation.
The ceremony will also be attended by Shri Surendra Patel, President, CHARUSAT and Kelavani Mandal; Dr. M. C. Patel, Secretary, Matrusanstha, Kelavani Mandal and CHRF; Shri Kiran I. Patel, President, Matrusanstha; Shri Vipul Patel, President, CHRF-CHARUSAT Hospital and MLA, Sojitra; along with office-bearers and senior executives of Matrusanstha, Kelavani Mandal, and CHRF.
