Mumbai: Vietjet has revealed remarkable business performance for Q2-2025, exceeding expectations and reaching important milestones. Noteworthy highlights from the quarter consist of considerable aircraft orders, an enhancement of ground self-service operations, and a successful acquisition of a vital development project at Long Thanh International Airport, which is poised to become Vietnam’s new major aviation hub.

Vietjet’s Growth and Financial Performance

For Indian travelers and industry analysts, Vietjet’s remarkable expansion and increasing international footprint align with the growing demand for affordable and well-connected air travel across the Asia-Pacific region. The airline has once again been recognized by AirlineRatings as the “World’s Best Ultra Low-Cost Carrier” and is also listed among the safest airlines globally.

Q2 2025 Revenue Highlights

  • Aviation revenue soared to VND 17.681 trillion (around US$ 673.9 million), resulting in a pre-tax profit of VND 775 billion (about US$ 29.57 million), reflecting a notable 52.3% year-on-year (YoY) increase.
  • Total consolidated revenue reached VND 17.885 trillion (approximately US$ 682.29 million), with pre-tax profit rising to VND 815 billion (around US$ 31.09 million), indicating an impressive 151.5% YoY growth.

With ten direct routes linking Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad to key Vietnamese destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, Vietjet is strategically positioned for sustained growth and development in the latter half of 2025.

Half-Year Financial Highlights

  • Vietjet showcased remarkable performance in the first half of 2025, achieving 78% and 75% of its separate and consolidated pre-tax profit targets for the full year, respectively.
  • Aviation revenue reached VND 35.6 trillion (approximately US$1.35 billion), with a pre-tax profit of nearly VND 1.6 trillion (around US$61.04 million), marking a 37% year-on-year increase.
  • Consolidated revenue climbed to VND 35.8 trillion (about US$1.36 billion), with pre-tax profit exceeding VND 1.6 trillion (approximately US$61.04 million), demonstrating a substantial 65% year-on-year growth.
  • Total assets surpassed VND 112.33 trillion (roughly US$4.28 billion). The airline maintained a debt-to-equity ratio of 1.76 and a liquidity ratio of 1.44, indicating strong financial health.
  • Cash reserves, bank deposits, cash equivalents, and short-term investments exceeded VND 9.001 trillion (around US$343.15 million), supported by working capital credit lines that ensured ample liquidity.

Half-Year Operational Highlights : By the end of Q2 2025, the Vietjet group had successfully operated a total of 189 routes, with 154 routes managed by Vietjet and 35 by Vietjet Thailand.

  • Including Vietjet Thailand, the airline carried 17.7 million passengers across 99,202 flights.
  • The total volume of cargo transported approached nearly 65,200 tons.
  • The airline achieved an impressive technical reliability rate of 99.53%.

Strategic Expansion : In Q2 of 2025, Vietjet marked a significant milestone in its strategy to expand its international network. In March, the airline launched two new routes connecting Bengaluru and Hyderabad to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest city, thereby enhancing its operations in India. Vietjet also added new services to China, Japan, and Singapore, responding to the increasing demand for travel and trade. Additionally, the airline commenced direct flights from Nha Trang, Vietnam’s beach paradise, to three major Russian cities: Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, and Blagoveshchensk.

Investment in a Modern Fleet : In addition to its impressive performance, Vietjet has made significant strides in fleet development. During French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Vietnam, the airline placed an order for 20 additional A330neo widebody aircraft from Airbus, raising its total to 40—making it the largest A330neo order globally. At the 2025 Paris Air Show, Vietjet secured the largest deal at the event with an order for 100 A321neo aircraft, accompanied by 50 purchase options, positioning itself among the world’s top 10 airlines by order volume.

Ground Self-Service Expansion and Long Thanh Project Win : Vietjet has expanded its in-house ground handling operations to major airports in Vietnam, enhancing service quality, operational efficiency, and the overall passenger experience. The airline also received government approval for its successful bid to invest in and construct Aircraft Maintenance Facilities No.3 and No.4 at Long Thanh International Airport, crucial components of the national maintenance hub for the airport’s first phase.
