Ahmedabad :Vigilance Awareness Week is observed annually during the week that includes the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, often referred to as India’s “Iron Man,” on October 31st. Sardar Patel’s vision of integrity, unity, and disciplined governance remains a source of inspiration for generations. His principles remind us that ethical behaviour, in both public and private spheres, is essential to a strong nation.
Each year, India marks Vigilance Awareness Week to reinforce its collective commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability in all areas of life. This nationwide initiative, launched by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), aims to raise awareness among citizens and organisations about the importance of ethical conduct and effective governance.

In 2025, this observance takes on added significance as the nation progresses toward a future defined by digital transformation, innovation, and inclusive growth. The theme for this year—“Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility”—resonates deeply with the values upheld by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). HPCL is a front-runner in this movement, leading impactful initiatives to promote vigilance, ethical practices, and transparency.
As part of a series of initiatives organized by HPCL across schools, colleges, and stakeholder forums, the company recently hosted an Expert Talk followed by a Vigilance Walkathon in Ahmedabad. This event saw enthusiastic participation from HPCL officers and key stakeholders from the LPG and Retail sectors.
The Vigilance Walkathon aimed to engage employees, students, and citizens in a collective effort to raise awareness about the significance of integrity and the necessity to eliminate corruption. Through such initiatives, HPCL aspires to cultivate a transparent and ethical culture within both the organization and the broader community.
HPCL strongly believes that integrity is not just a corporate value; it is the bedrock of sustainable growth and national trust. As one of India’s premier public sector enterprises, HPCL has consistently shown that vigilance is not merely about identifying faults, but about fostering a culture of prevention, participation, and predictability. By continuously engaging with various segments of society, HPCL remains committed to promoting transparency, ethical governance, and shared responsibility in the quest to create a corruption-free ecosystem.
