Ghaziabad : The Indian Air Force (IAF) commemorated its 94th anniversary at Air Force Station Hindan, showcasing its operational capabilities, technological advancements, professionalism and rich heritage. The ceremonial Air Force Day Parade was reviewed by Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, in the presence of senior military officers, former Air Chiefs and other dignitaries.
The celebrations were held under the theme “Indian Air Force: Infallible, Impervious and Precise”, reflecting the force’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s skies through precision, resilience and operational excellence. The ceremony began with the marching-in of the President’s Colours, symbolising the IAF’s distinguished service and commitment to the nation. Three Mi-17 1V helicopters in ‘Dhwaj’ formation presented an aerial salute carrying the National Flag and the IAF flag. The parade was commanded by Group Captain Manish Sharma, followed by an investiture ceremony recognising Air Warriors for gallantry and distinguished service.
Addressing the gathering, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh emphasised that air power remains central to protecting national interests and reaffirmed the IAF’s readiness to respond to any contingency. Referring to Operation Sindoor, he highlighted the force’s transition into combat operations, including its offensive capabilities and air defence performance.
The Chief of the Air Staff also reiterated the importance of Atmanirbharta, stating that emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, would be integrated while keeping human authority at the core. He stressed the importance of joint planning and operational coordination with the Indian Army and Navy, while describing space as a natural extension of the air domain.
A static display showcased fighter aircraft, helicopters, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface guided weapon systems, radars and one-way attack unmanned aerial systems, highlighting the IAF’s operational strength and focus on indigenous capability development. Five Unit Citations were presented to 24 Squadron ‘The Hawks’, 110 Helicopter Unit ‘The Vanguards’, 200 Squadron ‘Skanda’, 2402 Squadron ‘Vajra’ and the Electronic Warfare Range.
The celebrations also featured Team Shakti, the IAF’s all-women Air Warrior Drill Team, which demonstrated synchronised movements and complex formations. The IAF Drummers Team, comprising 33 young Air Warriors, delivered a performance combining percussion, dynamic formations and acrobatic movements. The IAF Heritage Flight presented an aerial display celebrating the legacy of Indian military aviation. A vintage Tiger Moth aircraft enthralled spectators, paying tribute to the force’s distinguished history.
The Air Force Day aerial display will also be held at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, on October 25, 2026, extending the anniversary celebrations beyond Hindan.
