Navi Mumbai : Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is expanding its public transport and ground mobility network ahead of the Winter Schedule 2026–27, offering passengers a range of multimodal travel options including buses, taxis, autorickshaws, car rentals and airport shuttles.
Operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), NMIA is strengthening connectivity across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) with multiple public transport and affordable mobility options.
MSRTC e-Shivai Services to Connect NMIA with Mumbai and Pune
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will commence e-Shivai electric bus services from October 7, 2026.
The fares from NMIA will be:
- Pune: ₹450
- Borivali: ₹210
- Dadar East: ₹170
Children below 12 years and women travelling with a National Common Mobility Card will be eligible for half-fare.
The first phase of e-Shivai services will connect NMIA with Dadar, Borivali and Pune, with operations extending from early morning to late night. The Dadar route will operate via Sion and Atal Setu, while the Borivali route will connect CSMIA Terminal 1, Bandra and Atal Setu. The Pune route will have two daily services, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Services connecting Thane and Nashik are planned by mid-November.
21 Daily Chalo Bus Services
Chalo Bus currently operates 21 daily services connecting NMIA with key locations including Marol in Andheri East, Bandra, Dadar and the World Trade Centre in Colaba. Services operate at regular intervals during peak and non-peak hours, with additional capacity being added to support passenger and employee mobility during peak periods.
Seven Dedicated NMMT Airport Routes
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) operates seven dedicated airport routes, A1 to A7, connecting Terminal 1 with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Panvel, Khandeshwar and the Airport Project Office. Belapur and Nerul services operate every 15–20 minutes during peak hours, while additional links to Vashi and Panvel are planned.
Expanded Taxi, Auto and Car Rental Options
NMIA is also expanding its taxi and last-mile mobility options. Uber Go and Uber Premier will offer ride services for short- and medium-distance journeys, while Uber Auto will provide an additional on-demand option for short-distance travel. Passengers will also have access to prepaid taxis, prepaid autorickshaws and car rentals. Bharat Taxi will commence operations from October 10, with a dedicated fleet of up to 40 vehicles.
Complimentary Hourly Shuttle Between Mumbai’s Two Airports
A complimentary inter-airport shuttle service will operate every hour between NMIA and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). The service, operated by Cityflo, Aarya and Chalo, will provide passengers with a direct transfer option between Mumbai’s two airports.
Ground Transport Capacity Scaled Up
NMIA is scaling up its overall ground transport capacity across app-based taxis, car rentals, autorickshaws and buses to 4,594 vehicles/services, comprising:
- 3,787 app-based taxis
- 184 car rentals
- 171 autos
- 547 buses
The airport is also deploying dedicated mobility signage, wayfinding systems and on-ground passenger assistance, with designated zones for buses, shuttles, arrivals, departures and private vehicles.
Strong Road, Rail and Metro Connectivity
NMIA is connected to Panvel, Targhar and Bamandongri suburban railway stations, along with major road corridors including Atal Setu, Sion-Panvel Highway, Palm Beach Road, Amra Marg (NH-348A) and NH-548. Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 is operational, while the proposed Mumbai Metro Line 8 is planned to connect CSMIA and NMIA. The airport is also working with the Adani TotalEnergies Gas (ATGL) team to accelerate the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
With expanded bus services, multiple taxi and auto options, dedicated NMMT routes and a complimentary inter-airport shuttle, NMIA is strengthening its multimodal connectivity network to provide passengers with greater choice, convenience and affordability during the upcoming winter travel season.
