Gandhinagar: ALUMINIUM BHARAT 2026, an exclusive exhibition for aluminium products, opened today at the Helipad Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar. Organised by the Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturers Association of India (ALEMAI), the four-day exhibition from September 26 to 29, alongside ALUMEX INDIA 2026, brings together manufacturers, recyclers, technology providers, buyers, policymakers and international stakeholders.
Spread across more than 30,000 sq. metres, the exhibition features 500+ exhibitors and is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors. The event showcases the wider aluminium value chain, with discussions focused on technology, new applications, investment opportunities and greater domestic value addition.
The exhibition comes as aluminium demand continues to grow across automotive and electric mobility, renewable energy, infrastructure, construction, electrical and engineering sectors. At the same time, global trade tensions, energy costs, supply-chain disruptions and volatile raw material prices are putting pressure on manufacturers.
According to ALEMAI, India’s aluminium extrusion industry has an installed capacity of around 30 lakh tonnes annually, while current domestic production is estimated at 10–12 lakh tonnes. Downstream aluminium imports are estimated at 12–15 lakh tonnes annually. The association has called for measures to improve capacity utilisation and strengthen the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers.
A key concern for the downstream industry is the cost of raw materials and tariff structures. ALEMAI has sought tariff rationalisation, lower input and energy costs, stronger domestic demand and safeguards against tariff-related disadvantages faced by Indian manufacturers.
Jitendra Chopra, President, ALEMAI, said, “India has the resources, manufacturing base and technical capabilities to significantly expand its position in value-added aluminium products. The immediate opportunity is to make better use of the capacity that is already available and create the right conditions for new investment.”
Amit Thaker, MLA, Vejalpur, said the aluminium industry has significant potential in downstream manufacturing, where better capacity utilisation and greater domestic value addition can create new opportunities for MSMEs. With aluminium demand expected to rise across transport, renewable energy, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, ALEMAI sees significant scope for India to expand its downstream capabilities and strengthen its position in the global aluminium value chain.
