Ahmedabad: Gujarat has set an ambitious target of becoming a $3.5 trillion economy by 2047, with a strong push towards emerging sectors such as data centres, semiconductors, and green energy.
Addressing FICCI’s National Executive Committee meeting, chief minister Bhupendra Patel said the state continues to attract global capital, with over 100 Fortune 500 companies already operating in Gujarat. He emphasised that Gujarat’s growth trajectory is closely aligned with India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Highlighting the state’s industrial roadmap, Patel pointed to the development of semiconductor fabrication units and the emergence of GIFT City as a hub for AI, fintech, and data infrastructure. He also underlined Gujarat’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050 and its focus on inclusive growth, including women-led entrepreneurship.

Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi said Gujarat is poised to lead India’s data infrastructure expansion, claiming the state will add more data centre capacity in the next two to three years than the rest of the country combined.
He identified data centres, semiconductors, global capability centres, defence, and aircraft manufacturing as key sunrise sectors driving the next phase of growth. Sanghavi also revealed that Asia’s largest semiconductor fabrication plant is coming up in Dholera, while a major semiconductor ecosystem is being developed in Sanand.
On the infrastructure front, he said new concert venues near the Narendra Modi Stadium are being developed, with capacities ranging from 15,000 to 1.25 lakh. The state is also set to roll out new policies for concerts, expos, and hotels to boost entertainment and hospitality investments.
FICCI president Anant Goenka highlighted Gujarat’s strong economic performance, noting that despite having about 5% of India’s population, the state contributes over 8% to the national GDP and more than 30% of merchandise exports.
Industry leaders, including Pankaj Patel and Pranav Adani, stressed the importance of research-driven growth and highlighted major investments in manufacturing and renewable energy projects in the state. The event, attended by key industry stakeholders, underscored Gujarat’s position as a leading hub for high-value manufacturing and future-ready infrastructure.
