Two parallel programmes on research commercialisation, plasma science, fusion technology and IPR witness participation of students, researchers and professionals
Ahmedabad: The Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (IITRAM), Ahmedabad, successfully organised two parallel one-day programmes under the National Workshop on “Advanced Technologies for Societal and Strategic Applications” as part of Vikas Saptah–2026, Government of Gujarat, with the support of the Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG).
The programmes were held under the patronage of Shri Dilip Kumar Rana, IAS, Commissioner, Higher & Technical Education, Government of Gujarat and CEO, KCG; Dr. Yogesh Yadav, Joint CEO, KCG; and Prof. P. K. Jain, Director General, IITRAM.
The programmes, titled “Research, Innovation and Commercialization” and “Plasma Science, Fusion Technology and IPR Outreach,” were inaugurated through a common inaugural session at IITRAM. Around 100 students, faculty members, researchers and professionals participated in the programmes.
The Research, Innovation and Commercialization programme featured expert sessions covering Computational Intelligence in Electric Drives, Research Commercialization, Medical Devices, Trustworthy and Explainable AI, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Academics, and 3D Printing, AR and VR in Orthopedic Oncology.
The parallel programme on Plasma Science, Fusion Technology and IPR Outreach focused on Plasma Science, Tokamak Research, Cryogenics for Fusion Technology, Remote Handling Technologies, Inverse Heat Transfer, Sustainable Machining and Advanced Materials for Defence Applications. An IPR Outreach Exhibition featuring models and demonstrations was also organised.
As part of the exhibition, around 150 school students from nearby schools visited IITRAM and its IPR Gallery. The students were introduced to IPR models and demonstrations, gaining exposure to innovation, intellectual property, scientific research and emerging technologies. The initiative aimed to build awareness and encourage interest among young students in science, technology, research and innovation.
The programmes provided participants with opportunities for knowledge sharing, interaction with experts, research-industry engagement and exposure to emerging technologies with applications across societal and strategic sectors.
